Amanah — a trust — is more than our name. It is what every masjid is: a trust held on behalf of its community, and before Allah. Our vision is simple — that every masjid is kept well, and every community feels it.
We began with a feeling many of us know. Our masajid do extraordinary good — yet so much of the effort behind them goes unseen, and so much is lost along the way. Minutes never written. Notices no one saw. Trustees and imams giving their evenings for the sake of Allah, quietly worn down by admin no one thanks them for.
We imagined something better. Not a masjid run like a business — a masjid run like an amanah: with care, with openness, and with the whole community drawn close to it. That is what we are building, and why.
A jamāʿah that is reached, asked, served and kept informed — that feels a real sense of belonging and pride in their masjid, because they are part of it, not just told about it.
The people who carry the masjid, freed from the weight of admin and the fear of things slipping — so their time and sincerity go where they are needed: to the people. And their tireless work, at last, is seen.
Where the money goes, what was decided, and how — shown openly, so a community can trust what it cannot always see. Good governance done quietly and well: never a burden, never policing — simply how things work.
The everyday chaos — the lost record, the missed message, the decision half-remembered — replaced with calm. One honest, complete place, so nothing important slips away again.
Not everything new is better, and nothing good is taken away. For those who prefer the way it has always been, the door stays open — a door held open, not a wall.
What helps one masjid can help them all. We want this to belong to every masjid — in Birmingham, Bradford, Leicester and beyond — and, inshaAllah, to Muslim communities wherever they are.
None of this is new. Amanah — stewardship of a trust. Shūrā — a community consulted. ʿImārat al-masājid — enlivening the houses of Allah. Taʿāwun ʿalā al-birr — cooperation in what is good. Ukhuwwah — the brotherhood that binds a jamāʿah together. These have carried our masajid for centuries. We have only tried to build tools worthy of them — quiet, honest, and in service of the community.
